PSD to JFIF Conversion FAQ

How do I convert PSD to JFIF without losing image quality?
+
Upload your PSD file and the converter applies format-aware quality optimization for JFIF. For lossless JFIF (PNG, TIFF, BMP) every pixel is preserved; for lossy JFIF (JPG, WebP) you can tune the quality factor before download. A PSD preserves layers, masks, blend modes, smart objects, adjustment layers and editable text as separate live elements. The image data is ordinary JPEG; JFIF just defines the density and thumbnail fields around it, so a .jfif and a .jpg are the same picture.
They are flattened, permanently, into one composited image. Blend modes, masks, adjustment layers and editable text are all resolved into final pixels because JFIF has no structure to hold them. Keep the PSD as the working master and treat the JFIF strictly as an export. PSD keeps every editing decision reversible, which is why it is the master format for design work that will be revised. The .jfif extension confuses Windows and many web apps into refusing the file, which is usually the only reason anyone converts it.
At quality 80-85 the difference is invisible at normal viewing distance and the file typically drops by 60-80%. The catch is that it is one-way: re-saving the JFIF repeatedly compounds the artefacts each time. Keep the PSD as the master and regenerate the JFIF from it whenever you need a new size.
It is converted to sRGB, because JFIF has no CMYK mode. For screen use that is exactly what you want. For commercial print it is not — the gamut shift changes how saturated colours reproduce on press, so send the printer the original PSD rather than the JFIF.
Transparency survives when JFIF is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background. If you need transparency in the result, target a transparency-aware JFIF instead of JFIF=JPG. JFIF is the JPEG File Interchange Format — the header specification that makes a raw JPEG bitstream into a portable file.
In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the JFIF. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
Default is 1:1 — your JFIF keeps the pixel dimensions of the source PSD. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.
Yes. Uploaded PSD files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted JFIF are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.

PSD

PSD (Photoshop Document) is the native file format for Adobe Photoshop. PSD files store layered images, allowing for non-destructive editing and keeping design elements. They are crucial for broadcast-resolution graphic design and photo manipulation.

JFIF

JFIF is the interchange wrapper around baseline JPEG data, so a JFIF file is a JPEG under a different extension.
