How do I convert PSD to PNG without losing image quality?

Upload your PSD file and the converter applies format-aware quality optimization for PNG. For lossless PNG (PNG, TIFF, BMP) every pixel is preserved; for lossy PNG (JPG, WebP) you can tune the quality factor before download. A PSD preserves layers, masks, blend modes, smart objects, adjustment layers and editable text as separate live elements. PNG uses DEFLATE compression over filtered scanlines, so every pixel survives exactly, plus a full 8-bit alpha channel.

What happens to the layers in my PSD file?

They are flattened, permanently, into one composited image. Blend modes, masks, adjustment layers and editable text are all resolved into final pixels because PNG has no structure to hold them. Keep the PSD as the working master and treat the PNG strictly as an export. PSD keeps every editing decision reversible, which is why it is the master format for design work that will be revised. PNG is a poor photograph format: a photo saved as PNG is routinely five to ten times larger than the same image as JPG or WebP.

Will my CMYK colour survive the conversion to PNG?

It is converted to sRGB, because PNG has no CMYK mode. For screen use that is exactly what you want. For commercial print it is not — the gamut shift changes how saturated colours reproduce on press, so send the printer the original PSD rather than the PNG.

Is anything lost converting between PSD and PNG?

No pixel data, no. Both formats store the image without lossy compression, so the picture that comes out is identical to the one that went in and the conversion can be repeated indefinitely. What changes is file size, and which features travel — colour depth, embedded profiles, layers and animation are all supported unevenly between lossless formats.

Does PSD to PNG conversion preserve transparency?

Transparency survives when PNG is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background. If you need transparency in the result, target a transparency-aware PNG instead of PNG=JPG. PNG was designed in 1996 as a patent-free replacement for GIF, and became the web’s default lossless image format.

Will my color profile (sRGB / Adobe RGB / CMYK) survive PSD to PNG?

Embedded ICC color profiles are read from PSD and re-attached to the PNG output where the format supports it (JPG, PNG, TIFF, WebP). Formats without profile support fall back to sRGB, which keeps colors consistent across most modern displays.

What about EXIF metadata when converting PSD to PNG?

Camera EXIF (ISO, shutter, lens, GPS coords) is preserved by default during PSD → PNG when both formats support metadata. Use the privacy option to strip metadata before download if you need to share images without geolocation.

Default is 1:1 — your PNG keeps the pixel dimensions of the source PSD. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.

How small can the PNG get without visible artifacts?

For JPG / WebP, quality 75-85 typically gets the PNG 60-80% smaller than PSD with no visible difference at normal viewing distance. For lossless PNG (PNG, TIFF), expect smaller savings — usually 5-30% via better deflate / LZW compression. PNG is the right choice for screenshots, logos, line art and anything with hard edges or transparency — no ringing, no colour banding.

Are my PSD files private during conversion?
