How do I convert JFIF to GIF without losing image quality?

Upload your JFIF file and the converter applies format-aware quality optimization for GIF. For lossless GIF (PNG, TIFF, BMP) every pixel is preserved; for lossy GIF (JPG, WebP) you can tune the quality factor before download. The image data is ordinary JPEG; JFIF just defines the density and thumbnail fields around it, so a .jfif and a .jpg are the same picture. GIF is lossless but capped at a 256-colour palette per frame, using LZW compression and single-colour binary transparency.
Can I get transparency once the image is GIF?

The GIF format supports it, but the conversion cannot invent it. A JFIF has no alpha channel, so every pixel including the background arrives fully opaque. Run /image-removebackground/ afterwards to cut the subject out — then the alpha channel GIF provides has something to store. GIF animation plays absolutely everywhere — email clients, forums, chat apps and browsers all render it with no codec negotiation.
Does converting JFIF to GIF restore the quality that was lost?

No. The compression artefacts already baked into the JFIF are ordinary pixel data now, and GIF preserves them perfectly rather than removing them. The file usually gets larger, sometimes several times larger. It is still worth doing before editing, because further edits will not stack a second generation of loss on top. The .jfif extension confuses Windows and many web apps into refusing the file, which is usually the only reason anyone converts it.
Does JFIF to GIF conversion preserve transparency?

Transparency survives when GIF is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background. If you need transparency in the result, target a transparency-aware GIF instead of GIF=JPG. GIF is CompuServe’s 1987 format, and the only reason it survived is that it animates.
What about EXIF metadata when converting JFIF to GIF?

In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the GIF. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.
Can I batch-convert many JFIF files to GIF at once?

What resolution will my GIF file have?

Default is 1:1 — your GIF keeps the pixel dimensions of the source JFIF. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.
