How do I convert SVG to PSD without losing image quality?

An SVG stores shapes as mathematical paths and text as text, not as pixels, so it is a document rather than a raster grid. A PSD preserves layers, masks, blend modes, smart objects, adjustment layers and editable text as separate live elements.

How does text inside the SVG behave?

In an SVG, text is real text — selectable, searchable and re-styleable, and it needs the font to be available or embedded to render as intended. Converting away from SVG turns that text into pixels or into document text depending on the target; converting towards SVG only produces real text if the source had a text layer to begin with.

Does SVG to PSD conversion preserve transparency?

Transparency survives when PSD is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background. If you need transparency in the result, target a transparency-aware PSD instead of PSD=JPG. PSD is Adobe Photoshop’s native document, and it is a working file rather than a delivery format.

What about EXIF metadata when converting SVG to PSD?

In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the PSD. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.

Can I batch-convert many SVG files to PSD at once?

What resolution will my PSD file have?

Default is 1:1 — your PSD keeps the pixel dimensions of the source SVG. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.

Are my SVG files private during conversion?

Yes. Uploaded SVG files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted PSD are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.

Why is my converted PSD bigger or smaller than I expected?

An SVG with strong existing compression (lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded to lossless PSD (PNG, TIFF). A lossless SVG often shrinks dramatically when going to JPG / WebP. The ratio depends on image content — photos compress differently from line art. SVG cannot represent a photograph — tracing one produces either a crude approximation or a file larger than the original raster. PSD is huge, opens properly in almost nothing outside Adobe, and has to be flattened before anyone can view or print it.
