That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application. JPG compresses natural photographs superbly and is readable by literally every device, browser and printer in existence.
Can I convert only part of the Word instead of all of it?

No. There is no page setting for Word files, so every page is rendered as its own JPG and you keep the ones you need. If you only want the first page, convert the Word to PDF and then use the PDF to JPG converter, whose Pages menu offers First page only.
Do I get one image per page?

What if the JPG download does not start automatically?
