WebP to JPG Conversion FAQ

How do I convert WebP to JPG without losing image quality?
+
Upload your WebP file and the converter applies format-aware quality optimization for JPG. For lossless JPG (PNG, TIFF, BMP) every pixel is preserved; for lossy JPG (JPG, WebP) you can tune the quality factor before download. WebP offers both lossy and lossless modes, with alpha transparency and animation available in either. JPG is lossy: the image is transformed with a DCT, quantised, and entropy-coded, with a quality knob controlling how much is discarded.
Only the first frame survives, because JPG is a still format with nowhere to store the rest. If the animation matters, target a format that animates, or convert to a video container instead and keep the motion. JPG has no transparency, degrades further every time it is re-saved, and produces visible blocking on flat colour and sharp text.
Transparency survives when JPG is PNG, WebP, TIFF, GIF, or SVG. Converting to JPG flattens the alpha channel against a white background. If you need transparency in the result, target a transparency-aware JPG instead of JPG=JPG. JPG is the JPEG standard from 1992, served under the .jpg, .jpeg and .jfif extensions alike, and after three decades it is still the format most cameras and most websites use for photographs.
In most conversions, camera EXIF fields such as the camera model and GPS position are not carried into the JPG. There is no setting on this page to keep or remove metadata, so check the result with a metadata viewer if it matters.
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.
Default is 1:1 — your JPG keeps the pixel dimensions of the source WebP. If you need to resize as part of the conversion, use /resize-image/ after conversion, or chain it with the /image-resize/ utility.
Yes. Uploaded WebP files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted JPG are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
A WebP with strong existing compression (lossy JPG) often grows when re-encoded to lossless JPG (PNG, TIFF). A lossless WebP often shrinks dramatically when going to JPG / WebP. The ratio depends on image content — photos compress differently from line art. WebP is still second-class outside the browser — print workflows, older Office builds and some phone galleries do not accept it.

WebP

WebP provides superior lossless and lossy compression for images on the web, developed by Google.

JPG

JPG files use lossy compression optimized for photographs, giving small file sizes while retaining visual resolution.
