How do I extract the audio from my WebM file as DTS?

Upload the WebM file and the converter demuxes the audio stream, then transcodes it to DTS. There is no second video pass — the visual track is discarded immediately so extraction is much faster than a full re-encode. WebM is a strict subset of Matroska that Google published in 2010 specifically to give HTML5 video a royalty-free container. DTS is Digital Theater Systems audio, the cinema-derived rival to Dolby Digital that appeared on laserdisc and DVD from 1993.
Is converting WebM to DTS a second round of lossy compression?

Yes, and it is worth planning around. Both formats are lossy, so the DTS encoder is working from audio that has already been through one psychoacoustic pass, and its own decisions compound the first set. At 192 kbps or above the result is still transparent for most listening. If you have a lossless master anywhere, encoding the DTS from that instead avoids the double pass entirely. WebM is deliberately narrow: VP8 or VP9 video (AV1 more recently) with Vorbis or Opus audio, and nothing else. DTS is lossy multichannel audio at a much higher bitrate than AC-3 — typically 768 to 1509 kbps for 5.1.
Will the DTS play in my car or on older hardware?

Often not. WebM is decoded by essentially everything, including car head units and elderly players; DTS needs software that knows the codec, which standalone hardware frequently does not have. If the destination is a car stereo or a portable player, that is a strong argument for staying on WebM. DTS licensing means most TVs, soundbars and every browser refuse it, so it usually has to become AAC or AC-3 to be usable.
What audio bitrate does the extracted DTS use?

Default bitrate for lossy DTS is 192 kbps, which is transparent for music. You can override to 320 kbps (audiophile) or 96-128 kbps (voice / podcast / smaller file). The bitrate dropdown is exposed in the advanced options before you click convert.
Will I lose audio quality going from WebM to DTS?

If DTS is lossless (WAV, FLAC), every sample is preserved exactly. If DTS is lossy (MP3, AAC, OGG, Opus), the DTS codec recompresses the source audio — at 192 kbps the result is transparent for almost all content. Going lossy → lossless never recovers detail already discarded.
Does the DTS audio keep the original sample rate?

By default yes — 48 kHz audio in your WebM stays 48 kHz in the DTS output. For CD-burning or legacy player compatibility you can downsample to 44.1 kHz via the sample-rate dropdown; the resampler is high-quality SoX-grade.
Can I extract audio from multiple WebM files to DTS in one batch?

Will the DTS be tagged with title / artist / album metadata?

Not in this tool directly — extract the full audio as DTS, then use /audio-trim/ or /audio-cutter/ to clip the section. The two-step path is usually faster than a combined operation and gives you precise waveform-level control.
Is my WebM file private during the audio extraction?

Why does the DTS file have silent gaps where the WebM had sound?

Almost always a wrong-stream selection: WebM had multiple audio tracks and the demuxer picked an empty or auxiliary stream. Use the advanced "audio stream" picker to select stream 0, 1, 2 explicitly, or target a DTS container that supports multi-track output (FLAC, OGG).
