How do I extract frames from an FLV video as TIFF images?

Upload the FLV and the converter exposes a frame-extraction picker: every Nth frame, frames at specific timestamps, or one frame per second. Each chosen frame is encoded as an individual TIFF file and the full set is bundled into a ZIP archive for download. FLV is the Flash Video container that carried essentially all web video from roughly 2003 until Flash was switched off at the end of 2020. TIFF is the Tagged Image File Format from 1986, and it is the format scanning, publishing and archiving industries standardised on.
Can I get the TIFF frames without the subtitles?

Only if the FLV never had them burned in, because FLV has no selectable subtitle stream to switch off. Anything an FLV shows on screen is in the picture itself, so it is in every TIFF the extraction produces and no setting removes it afterwards. Where a separate subtitle file exists alongside the video, extract from a source that kept the two apart and the frames come out clean. No current browser, phone or TV can play FLV — anything still in this container has to be moved out of it to remain watchable.
Does the TIFF output support transparency?

The format does, but the source has no alpha to give it — video frames and rendered pages are fully opaque by nature, so every pixel arrives solid. The alpha channel is still useful afterwards: it means you can cut a subject out of the TIFF later without changing format again. TIFF handles CMYK, 16-bit depth, embedded ICC profiles and multi-page documents, which is exactly what print and archival workflows require.
How big will the TIFF files be?

Larger than you might expect, because TIFF keeps every pixel exactly rather than approximating. A 1080p still lands around 2-5 MB and a 4K still around 6-15 MB, so a long extraction run adds up quickly. That is the right trade when the images feed further processing, and the wrong one when they are going straight onto a web page. TIFF is a container more than a codec: it can hold uncompressed, LZW, ZIP or even JPEG data, at up to 32 bits per channel, with multiple pages in one file.
At what resolution does each extracted TIFF frame come out?

The same resolution as the FLV video — a 1080p FLV produces 1920×1080 TIFF frames; a 4K FLV produces 3840×2160 TIFF frames. Use the resize utility after extraction if you want smaller thumbnails or social-media-sized crops.
Can I extract every single frame from FLV as TIFF?

Yes, but be careful with file count — a 30fps 1-minute FLV produces 1,800 TIFF frames. We pack them into a ZIP automatically. For longer clips, the "1 per second" option (60 frames) or specific timestamps gives a manageable result.
Will the extracted TIFF images preserve the FLV color grading?

Yes — colour is decoded with the matrix the source FLV uses (BT.709 for HD, BT.2020 for 4K HDR). HDR sources are tone-mapped to SDR on extraction to TIFF because most TIFF formats (PNG, JPG) cannot store HDR pixel ranges natively.
