How do I convert WAV audio to AIFF without losing quality?

Lossless AIFF (WAV / FLAC / ALAC) preserves every sample bit-identically; lossy AIFF (MP3 / AAC / OGG / Opus) defaults to 192 kbps which is transparent for most ears. WAV normally stores raw uncompressed PCM — every sample kept exactly, at whatever bit depth and sample rate was captured. AIFF stores uncompressed big-endian PCM — the Apple-side equivalent of WAV, with the same bit-for-bit fidelity.
Is WAV to AIFF genuinely lossless?

Yes. Both formats keep every sample, so decoding the AIFF returns a bit-identical copy of the audio inside the WAV. Nothing is quantised, nothing is discarded, and the conversion can be repeated indefinitely without accumulating artefacts. What changes is the file size and which software will open it.
Can I tag the AIFF with artist and album information?

Yes, and it is a genuine gain over WAV, which has nowhere dependable to store any of it. AIFF carries title, artist, album, year, track number and embedded cover art in the container itself, so a music library files it correctly without a manual pass. Will the AIFF play in my car or on older hardware?

Often not. WAV is decoded by essentially everything, including car head units and elderly players; AIFF needs software that knows the codec, which standalone hardware frequently does not have. If the destination is a car stereo or a portable player, that is a strong argument for staying on WAV. AIFF is as large as WAV with worse support outside the Apple world, so it is a poor choice for distribution.
Will a long WAV recording upload successfully?

Free accounts cap at 100 MB per file, and WAV runs to roughly 10 MB per minute in stereo because nothing about it is compressed — every sample is stored at full width. Ten minutes is already at the limit. Premium lifts the cap considerably, and the format has its own 4 GB ceiling above that, which is why long sessions arrive split into numbered parts; upload them together and they are treated as one job. WAV is enormous — roughly 10 MB per stereo minute at CD quality — and the classic format has a 4 GB ceiling and no room for proper tags.
What bitrate will the resulting AIFF file use?
