How do I convert M4A audio to WAV without losing quality?

Upload the M4A file and the converter chooses the WAV codec and bitrate to match the source. Lossless WAV (WAV / FLAC / ALAC) preserves every sample bit-identically; lossy WAV (MP3 / AAC / OGG / Opus) defaults to 192 kbps which is transparent for most ears. An M4A holds AAC in most cases, or Apple Lossless (ALAC) when it came from a lossless rip. WAV normally stores raw uncompressed PCM — every sample kept exactly, at whatever bit depth and sample rate was captured.
No, and it is worth being blunt: nothing can. The M4A already discarded detail during its original encode, and wrapping what remains in a lossless WAV preserves exactly that — no more. The file gets several times larger and sounds identical. It is still the right move before editing, because WAV will not add a second generation of artefacts when you export. WAV is the correct format for editing, mastering and archiving, because it can be re-encoded any number of times without accumulating artefacts. M4A hides two very different things behind one extension — lossy AAC and lossless ALAC — and non-Apple hardware support is inconsistent.
Not intact. M4A carries a proper metadata block, but WAV has no standard place for artist, album, track number or cover art, so tags are dropped rather than mangled. Keep the M4A as the tagged copy, or re-tag afterwards with a tool like Mp3tag or MusicBrainz Picard. WAV is enormous — roughly 10 MB per stereo minute at CD quality — and the classic format has a 4 GB ceiling and no room for proper tags.
DRM. A subset of M4A files are encrypted by the store or the software that issued them, and encrypted audio cannot be decoded by any converter. Anything you ripped yourself, recorded, or bought without protection converts normally; a licensed purchase will not.
Default is 192 kbps for lossy WAV; pass-through for lossless WAV. Override to 320 kbps for audiophile or 96 kbps for voice / podcast. The choice trades file size against audible fidelity; below 96 kbps lossy artifacts become noticeable on music.
If M4A is lossy and WAV is lossless (e.g. MP3 → WAV), the WAV is no better than the M4A — you cannot recover information already discarded. If M4A is lossless and WAV is lossy, the WAV codec recompresses; at 192 kbps the result is transparent for most content.
