Markdown to DOC Conversion FAQ

How do I convert a Markdown file to DOC?
+
Upload your Markdown file using the picker above and the converter detects the source type and runs the Markdown → DOC pipeline. The result downloads automatically when conversion completes; no account needed for one-off conversions. Markdown is the same syntax as .md, spelled out in full — some editors and static site generators expect the long extension. DOC is the binary Microsoft Word format used from Word 97 through Word 2003.
It will look plain, because there is nothing to recover. A Markdown carries no styling information, so the converter applies a clean default — a readable body font, sensible margins, paragraphs separated where blank lines were. Headings are inferred where the source used a recognisable convention, and everything else arrives as body text.
CommonMark plus the GitHub Flavored Markdown extensions, which is the combination almost every current tool understands. That matters because Markdown was never standardised in one place: tables, footnotes, strikethrough and raw HTML behave differently between dialects, and those are exactly the constructs that silently change meaning when a document moves between renderers.
It opens everywhere, but it is a compatibility choice rather than a good one. The binary formats predate the XML packages, carry macro payloads that many mail servers strip on sight, and are being steadily deprecated by Microsoft itself. Use them when a specific piece of old software demands them, and the XML format otherwise. DOC is undocumented in practice, opaque to modern tooling, and Microsoft itself has been trying to retire it since 2007.
Yes — basic Markdown → DOC conversion is free with no registration required. Premium adds higher per-file size limits, more parallel batch workers, longer retention, and removes ads.
Free accounts: up to 100 MB per Markdown file. Premium: typically 1 GB per file depending on the source type. Very large files are split into chunks server-side when the DOC format allows.
Conversion preserves all information that both Markdown and DOC can represent. Format-specific features the DOC cannot represent (e.g. vector data in raster output, formulas in plain-text output) are rasterized or stripped — the result page lists what changed. The content is identical plain-text markup; only the filename differs, and both extensions are parsed by the same renderers. A DOC is an OLE compound-file structure, with the document body, formatting and any embedded objects stored as binary streams.
Yes — drop multiple Markdown files into the upload zone and they are queued in parallel. Premium runs more parallel workers; on a 50-file batch this is the difference between minutes and seconds.
Yes — the UI is responsive and the conversion pipeline runs server-side, so mobile devices upload-then-download just like desktops. iOS and Android browser file pickers (camera roll, Files app) work end-to-end.
Chrome, Firefox, Safari (15+), Edge, and Opera. The converter uses standard `<input type="file">` upload — no WebAssembly or PWA dependency — so even older browsers work to upload a Markdown and download the DOC.
Yes — uploaded Markdown files are processed in isolated workers and deleted within minutes. We never view, retain, or share content. The retention window is at /privacy/. The long form is what Jekyll, Hugo and several documentation pipelines look for by default, so it fits straight into those builds.
Disable any pop-up blocker, then click the download button manually. The result link stays active for 24 hours, so if your network drops mid-download you can retry from the result page without re-uploading the Markdown.
