PPTX to PDF Conversion FAQ
Is the resulting PDF searchable with real selectable text?
+
Yes when the PPTX contains real text (DOCX, ODT, HTML, TXT, EPUB). Image-based PPTX produces an image-only PDF; run /pdf-ocr/ afterward to make it text-searchable via optical character recognition. A PPTX is a ZIP of XML parts, one per slide, plus the media, layouts and theme it references. PPTX is the Office Open XML presentation format PowerPoint has used by default since 2007.
Can I still edit the content after converting PPTX to PDF?
+
Not the way you edit the PPTX. The PDF is a delivery format: it fixes the layout so it renders identically everywhere, which is exactly why it resists editing. Keep the PPTX as the working copy and regenerate the PDF whenever the content changes — round-tripping back out of PDF always loses something. PDF is Adobe’s Portable Document Format from 1993, standardised as ISO 32000 and now the universal fixed-layout document.
Will the PDF open directly in a browser?
+
Yes, and the PPTX would not have. Browsers ship a decoder for PDF and none for PPTX, so a PPTX link forces a download while a PDF renders inline. That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application. A PDF looks byte-for-byte identical on every machine and every printer, which is why contracts, invoices and academic papers all live in it.
Can I password-protect the PDF after conversion?
+
Not in this tool directly — convert PPTX to PDF first, then use the /pdf-* tools to add a password, watermark, or restrict editing / printing permissions on the output.
Is my PPTX file private during PDF conversion?
+
Yes. Uploaded PPTX files are processed on our own conversion servers, no person reviews them, and they are never shared. The upload and the converted PDF are both deleted automatically about 24 hours after the conversion, which leaves time to download the result. See /privacy/ for the full policy.
