EPUB to JPG Conversion FAQ
How do I convert an EPUB file to JPG?
+
Upload your EPUB file using the picker above and the converter detects the source type and runs the EPUB → JPG pipeline. The result downloads automatically when conversion completes; no account needed for one-off conversions. EPUB is the open ebook standard from the International Digital Publishing Forum, now maintained by the W3C. JPG is the JPEG standard from 1992, served under the .jpg, .jpeg and .jfif extensions alike, and after three decades it is still the format most cameras and most websites use for photographs.
Will the JPG open directly in a browser?
+
Yes, and the EPUB would not have. Browsers ship a decoder for JPG and none for EPUB, so an EPUB link forces a download while a JPG renders inline. That is usually the deciding factor when the file is going onto a web page rather than into an application. JPG compresses natural photographs superbly and is readable by literally every device, browser and printer in existence.
How are the pages of a reflowable book turned into fixed images?
+
By rendering them at a chosen page size first, because a reflowable book has no inherent pages — the reader creates them from screen width and font size. The converter picks a standard page geometry, lays the text out onto it, and renders each resulting page as one image. Change the page size and you get a different number of images from the same book.
What quality setting should I use for the JPG output?
+
Quality 85 is the sensible default and the one used unless you change it — visually indistinguishable from the source at normal viewing distance, at roughly a fifth of the size of a lossless equivalent. Push to 95 for anything that will be edited or printed, and drop to 70 for thumbnails where size dominates. JPG is lossy: the image is transformed with a DCT, quantised, and entropy-coded, with a quality knob controlling how much is discarded.
Why does my EPUB file refuse to convert?
+
DRM, in almost every case. A protected EPUB is encrypted and tied to an account, and no converter can decrypt it — ours included. Files you created yourself, or bought from a DRM-free store, convert without any trouble at all. EPUB has no fixed pagination, so page numbers are meaningless, and complex layout — tables, equations, multi-column — degrades badly.
Can I convert only part of the EPUB instead of all of it?
+
Yes — the page-range option takes `1-5`, `1,3,5` or `all`, so a single chapter, an appendix or just the cover can be extracted without processing the rest. On a long document that is the difference between a handful of files and several hundred.
Do I get one image per page?
+
Yes — each page renders as its own JPG file and the set arrives as a ZIP. The page-range option narrows that down when you only want a cover or a single chapter, and setting it to a single page returns one file rather than an archive.
Is the EPUB to JPG converter free?
+
Yes — basic EPUB → JPG conversion is free with no registration required. Premium adds higher per-file size limits, more parallel batch workers, longer retention, and removes ads.
How big an EPUB file can I convert to JPG?
+
Free accounts: up to 100 MB per EPUB file. Premium: typically 1 GB per file depending on the source type. Very large files are split into chunks server-side when the JPG format allows.
Will conversion change the content of my EPUB?
+
Conversion preserves all information that both EPUB and JPG can represent. Format-specific features the JPG cannot represent (e.g. vector data in raster output, formulas in plain-text output) are rasterized or stripped — the result page lists what changed. An EPUB is a ZIP archive of XHTML and CSS with a manifest — essentially a small website packaged as a book.
Can I convert many EPUB files to JPG at once?
+
Yes — drop multiple EPUB files into the upload zone and they are queued in parallel. Premium runs more parallel workers; on a 50-file batch this is the difference between minutes and seconds.
Does the EPUB to JPG converter work on phones and tablets?
+
Yes — the UI is responsive and the conversion pipeline runs server-side, so mobile devices upload-then-download just like desktops. iOS and Android browser file pickers (camera roll, Files app) work end-to-end.
