What is the Split Word tool?
+
This free online tool separates a Word document into multiple files. Extract specific pages or split by sections.
There is nothing to set: the document is split at its page breaks, or before each Heading 1 when it has none.
Output files are individual Word documents (.docx), each listed as its own download. A paid plan adds one ZIP download with all of them.
Each split document maintains the original formatting and styles.
Free users can split documents up to 100 pages. Premium users have higher limits.
Several files in one job need a paid plan. Free use is one file per conversion, one conversion an hour. On a paid plan you can add several files to one job, then download each result on its own or all of them in one ZIP.

It depends on the formats. A lossless target such as PNG, WAV or FLAC keeps what the source holds; a lossy target such as JPG, MP3 or MP4 is usually re-encoded, which trades some detail for a smaller file.
